North Texas Commission Honors FORTUNE 500 Corporations

Irving, April 5 — The North Texas Commission (NTC), in partnership with FORTUNE magazine, hosted the North Texas Commission Fortune 500 Luncheon to honor all FORTUNE 500 companies headquartered in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and FORTUNE 500 companies with a major presence in North Texas. The luncheon, held on Monday, April 4 at the Omni Mandalay Hotel at Las Colinas, recognized the following 18 corporations in ranking order: Exxon Mobil (2), J.C. Penney (74), Electronic Data Systems (95), AMR (119), Kimberly-Clark (135), Texas Instruments (166), Tenet Healthcare (169), TXU (195), Burlington Northern Santa Fe (200), D.R. Horton (203), Centex (204), Dean Foods (205), Southwest Airlines (318), RadioShack (399), Commercial Metals (404), Triad Hospitals (426), Affiliated Computer Services (460) and Brinker International (492). According to FORTUNE magazine, these corporations collectively generated nearly $469 billion in revenue in 2004.

The North Texas Commission Fortune 500 Luncheon featured Ross Perot, Jr., chairman of Perot Systems Corporation, as keynote speaker; David Johnson, business analyst for KRLD News Radio 1080 and WFAA-TV Channel 8, as the master of ceremonies; and special guest Geoff Colvin, senior editor-at-large with FORTUNE magazine. Event sponsors included American Airlines, Best Southwest Partnership, the City of Irving, Corgan Associates, Inc., DFW International Airport, Hillwood Properties, HKS Architects, Hunt Consolidated, Inc., Irving Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, Pearson Partners International, Inc., Texas A&M University-Commerce, and Verizon.
