North Texas Commission Honors Metroplex Business Participants in Nationally Recognized Mentoring Program

Irving, Jan. 28 - The North Texas Commission (NTC) honored seven Metroplex businesses today during the Eleventh Annual Mentor-Entrepreneur Recognition Luncheon for their outstanding success as participants in the 2004 Mentor-Entrepreneur Program. The 2004 Mentor-Entrepreneur Partnership Awards are: DFW Airport Marriott Hotel with Chef Cassondra Culinary Concepts; LOPEZGARCIA GROUP with Elements of Architecture, Inc.; TXU and Capgemini Energy with Batteries Plus; and TXU and Capgemini Energy with Digital Rhythm, Inc.

The award criterion is based upon the overall development and productivity of the Mentor-Entrepreneur relationship. Examples of outstanding results include the development of strategic business and marketing plans, improved human resource policies and procedures, and Web site design.

The Mentor-Entrepreneur Program has become a nationally recognized resource for small emerging women and minority-owned businesses in the Metroplex. Founded in 1993, the program offers small companies competitive business advice to help them achieve success in an ever-changing business community. Each year, more than 40 entrepreneur companies are paired with larger, more experienced corporations who offer expertise in such areas as marketing, human resources, business plan development and accounting. To date, more than 400 small business owners have participated in the Mentor-Entrepreneur Program.

In 1998, the Mentor-Entrepreneur Program was nationally recognized by the U.S. Department of the Treasury as a model BuisinessLINC business-to-business mentoring program for other areas to emulate and has been replicated in 18 states across the nation.
