at World’s Largest Aviation Trade Show 10.19.05 IRVING, Oct. 19, 2005 — The North Texas Aviation Marketing Team, lead by the North Texas Commission (NTC), will market regional aviation assets during the 58th Annual National Business Aviation Association's (NBAA) Annual Meeting and Convention on Nov. 9-11 in Orlando, Florida. The NBAA Convention is the largest civil aviation trade show in the world. This marks the 14th year that the Commission has organized and directed the North Texas Aviation Marketing Team to represent the region. Pat Jamison, senior economic development project manager for TXU Electric Delivery, serves as the marketing committee chairman. The marketing team includes: The City of Addison, representing Addison Airport; City of Dallas, representing Love Field and Dallas Executive Airport; City of Euless Economic Development Department; City of McKinney, representing Collin County Regional Airport; City of Mesquite, representing Mesquite Metro Airport; Denton Chamber of Commerce, representing Denton Airport; Greater Dallas Chamber Economic Development; Lancaster Economic Development Corporation, representing Lancaster Airport; North Texas Commission Aviation Department; Northeast Tarrant Chamber of Commerce; and TXU Electric Delivery Economic Development Department. The team’s mission is to market, promote, and expand the economic influence of the region's general aviation airports and related GA assets and to build camaraderie among aviation groups based in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. "The NBAA Annual Meeting and Convention is the largest and most sophisticated show not only in the United States, but in the world,” declares Worth Blake, aviation consultant and NBAA event manager for the North Texas Commission. The exhibition brings together a global community of business leaders, government officials, manufacturers, corporate aviation department personnel, single-pilot operations and all manner of people involved in nearly every aspect of business aviation. New business aircraft firms, avionics firms, handling organizations, fractional providers, charter/lease companies and previously titled aircraft resellers present their wares. The Static Display at Orlando Executive Airport will display up to 150 business aircraft. More than 30,000 attendees and 1,000 Exhibitors are expected to participate in this year’s event, which will cover approximately 5,000 booth spaces, or nearly one million square feet of exhibit space. Conference participants will have the opportunity to hear directly from government officials about development in the policy arena that impacts the priorities for the business aviation community. The NBAA Annual Meeting and Convention provides information about the latest developments and issues of significance to the aviation industry, providing a forum to discuss the industry’s opportunities, challenges and trends, and the work NBAA is doing for its Member Companies to promote an environment that fosters business aviation in the U.S. and around the world. Noted industry experts will offer sessions in the areas of maintenance, tax/finance/insurance and operations, including ATC/airports, regulatory/technical, safety/security and international. In addition, there are pre- and post-Convention seminars on topics ranging from professional development and inspection authorization renewal to taxes and management fundamentals. According to Blake, the marketing team sponsors a joint booth to showcase the vast and progressive general aviation assets available in the D/FW Metroplex. Last year, 113 aviation-related businesses visited the North Texas regional booth. Team members come prepared to network and identify business aviation prospects that might have an interest in relocating or establishing a new aviation-related business or partnership on or near one of the region’s 14 general aviation airports. The North Texas Commission has been marketing the North Texas Region as “The World Center of Aviation” due to the high concentration of aviation-related businesses. In 2002, the North Texas Commission conducted a study that estimated that DFW International Airport and the leading aviation businesses in the Metroplex contributed more than $23 billion each year to the economy. The study also found that there were more than 1,300 aviation-related businesses in North Texas and more than 181,000 documented aviation-related jobs. Founded in 1947, NBAA is a not-for-profit organization which serves more than 7,000 members by promoting the aviation interests of organizations utilizing business aircraft in the United States and worldwide. NBAA Member Companies earn annual revenues approaching $5 trillion dollars – a number that is about half the U.S. gross domestic product – and employ more than 19 million people worldwide.
