R&R Program Encourages Participation

June 10th, 2009

The Rest & Recuperation Program continues to be a significant and rewarding program in the North Texas region. If you have had an opportunity to participate in this program, you know just how moving this experience is day after day as troops from Iraq are welcomed home by groups of volunteers from North Texas. Thousands of volunteers have extended warm hospitality to the men and women serving our country as they pass through the gates of DFW Airport on their way home. Without volunteers this program would not be possible.

We are in the process of recruiting volunteers for second half of the 2009 calendar. Groups are encouraged to commit to a day or more if possible to ensure that our U.S. Troops are welcomed and greeted daily. Monday through Thursday there are very few people greeting the troops. We understand that during the week can be an inconvenience, however, the soldiers that come through the gates put their lives on the line daily and the warm hoorays, thank yous and handshakes make a world of difference to them. Most volunteers will never know exactly how deeply the soldiers are touched as they are welcomed home at DFW Airport.

We are very excited about continuing this program and now is your opportunity to participate in an unforgettable experience. We encourage your organization and your employees to be a part of this valuable program by volunteering and spreading the word. Help us fill those days that there are no volunteers scheduled to greet our U.S. soldiers. Please contact Christene Wheeler at 972.621.0400 or heroes@dfwairport.com to volunteer today.

Sincerely,
