Rep. Truitt receives Leadership Award from North Texas Commission

October 26th, 2009

The North Texas Commission presented Representative Vicki Truitt with its Transportation Excellence Award in Mobility (TEAM) at the annual Working for Clean Air Award ceremony on Oct. 20.

The TEAM award is presented to individuals who stand out as leaders in the region in transportation advocacy and demonstrate a commitment to developing a superior transportation infrastructure in North Texas.

“Rep. Truitt demonstrates a commitment to solving our transportation infrastructure challenges and understands the regional scope behind the issues,” said Dan S. Petty, North Texas Commission President and CEO. “It is because of her willingness to reach across city and county lines to work for a regional solution that we present her with the TEAM Award.”

“Of course, I appreciate being honored by the North Texas Commission for my work to improve transportation infrastructure for North Texans. But I believe I’m just doing my job. We are elected to solve problems. North Texas, and in fact, the entire state has a transportation and mobility problem, and I will remain focused on the issue until we solve it,” Truitt said. She continued, “Without adequate transportation infrastructure we will be unable to attract and retain companies and jobs, the quality of life for commuters stuck in traffic will deteriorate, and our air quality will suffer.”

The North Texas Commission is a regional nonprofit consortium of businesses, cities, counties, chambers of commerce, economic development entities and higher education institutions in the North Texas region.

Rep. Truitt is a six-term legislator from Tarrant County representing Grapevine, Colleyville, Southlake, Keller, Westlake and parts of Trophy Club and far north Fort Worth. She is Chairman of the House Committee on Pensions, Investments and Financial Services, and is a member of the House Committee on Public Health.
