The 2009 North Texas Commission Annual Membership Luncheon was one of the largest events in the history of the NTC with approximately 1,000 people in attendance on Sept. 22, 2009, at Cowboys Stadium. The luncheon featured a cast of business and community leaders including Fort Worth Mayor Mike Moncrief, Arlington Mayor Robert Cluck, Dallas Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Caraway, North Texas Super Bowl Host Committee President and CEO Bill Lively, Roger Staubach, Chairman and CEO of Jones Lang LaSalle and Chairman of the North Texas Super Bowl Host Committee, and Kenneth Barr, serving as master of ceremonies in his final role of NTC Chairman.
Keynote speaker, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, praised the business community for the support of bringing Super Bowl XLV to the region. He urged the community to recognize both the upcoming Super Bowl and the new Cowboys Stadium as a tool for marketing the region nationally and internationally. Bill Lively and Roger Staubach spoke to the lasting impact of Super Bowl XLV, citing examples such as the recently announced SLANT 45 and the Emerging Business Program as programs that will remain within the region well after the final play of the game.
The 38th Annual Membership Luncheon was also an opportunity to congratulate several North Texas Commission members celebrating their 20th anniversary of support to the organization. Here is a list of those members:
- Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell
- Texas Health Resources
- University of North Texas System
- University of Texas at Arlington
- Woodbine Development Corporation
- Renaissance Worthington Hotel Fort Worth
Chairman Barr closed the luncheon by introducing Wendy Lopez, vice president of URS Corporation and the 2010 North Texas Commission Chairwoman.
