The Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington submarket posted one of the largest year-over-year employment gains in July, according to new data from the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics.The North Texas submarket saw the number of employed increase by 31,300 in the D-FW-Arlington market, ranking No. 2 in the nation behind the Washington, D.C. area. Overall, unemployment rates grew in July. –Dallas Business Journal

The NTC's annual membership luncheon will take place on the field of Cowboys Stadium, partnering with the Host Committee to celebrate 100 days to Super Bowl XLV.
The 100-day countdown to the most anticipated sporting event in North Texas begins with a joint luncheon of the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee and the North Texas Commission on Thursday, Oct. 28, at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. The 100-day XLV Countdown Luncheon will commemorate the journey from the successful Super Bowl XLV bid in 2007 to kickoff this February.

Dan S. Petty, senior consultant for the North Texas Commission and former president and CEO, was pictured in an August issue of Sports Illustrated. Petty, who played football for the Texas Longhorns, was shown hoisting legendary coach Darrell Royal off the field at the Cotton Bowl Stadium in 1958 following a 15-14 victory against rival Oklahoma.

The North Texas Commission presented its 12th Transportation Excellence Award in Mobility (TEAM) to a regional transportation leader, Paul N. Wageman, and transit agency Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) on Aug. 18. Wageman receives the individual TEAM award and DCTA receives the TEAM organization award. Read More
