Irving-based ExxonMobil ranked No. 1 on the 2009 Fortune 500 list.

The North Texas region continues to be one of the hottest and fastest growing regions in the country despite the recent economic downturn. In the 2009 Fortune 500 list released in late April, 25 North Texas companies made the list with Irving-based ExxonMobil claiming the top spot.

North Texas Regional Airport Launches New Branding and Marketing Initiative

North Texas Regional Airport has begun a concerted effort to market the airport. The airport is a great asset to Grayson County; and the cities of Sherman and Denison, as well as the County as a whole, have contributed funding to develop and continue a consistent marketing plan. In addition to a new mission statement, value statement and goals, a new tagline was developed. “Catch the opportunity before it takes off” plays off the many opportunities for businesses looking to relocate to the North Texas area.

The legislative session ended in Austin with several hits and misses for NTC.

81st Legislative Session Ends with Some Wins and Some Losses

The North Texas Commission focuses on transportation, water supply, air quality and other policy issues important to the North Texas economy and quality of life. In the 81st session, NTC worked to expand resources available for transportation investment and to promote specific higher education, clean air, and water policy positions. Actions of the 81st Texas Legislature spell success for higher education, some progress with air quality and continuing the status quo with transportation and water.

DFW International Airport and North Texas Commission Celebrate Five Years of Welcome Home a Hero

In the five years since launching the Welcome Home a Hero, more than 300,000 troops have been greeted by volunteers across the region offering a handshake, a kind word and a hug.

"The Welcome Home A Hero program is all about the amazing people who have made it their personal mission to make sure every soldier passing through DFW gets thanked properly," said Jeff Fegan, CEO of DFW.

First Wave of Major Super Bowl XLV Venues Announced

Highlights include Taste of the NFL to be held in Fort Worth; NFL Experience in Dallas; Credential Center in Arlington

On May 12 the National Football League (NFL) and North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee announced venue selections for 16 key events that will be held in conjunction with Super Bowl XLV. The game will be played at the Dallas Cowboys New Stadium in Arlington on Feb. 6, 2011.
