Mabrie Jackson

Mabrie Jackson selected to lead North Texas Commission

Mabrie Jackson will begin her tenure as the North Texas Commission's president and CEO with a wealth of knowledge and experience that spans the public, private and nonprofit sectors.

Effective July 9, 2010, Jackson will take the helm of the organization as Dan S. Petty steps into a consultant role through the Super Bowl XLV in February 2011. She will be the first female to take over the organization, which formed in 1971 as a nonprofit corporation, and will become only the eighth president in the NTC’s nearly 40-year history.

NTC member Tahir Hussain awarded as a Minority Business Leader by Dallas Business Journal

Tahir Hussain learned business leadership at a young age. After his father died, Hussain assisted his older brothers in the family business after school in Pakistan and developed the foundation that led to his own start-up in North Texas, Fusion Solutions. Hussain was recently awarded as a Minority Business Leader by the Dallas Business Journal. Read More

Denton Airport receives prestigious TxDOT Aviation Division award

Denton Airport was recently awarded the Reliever Airport of the Year by the Texas Department of Transportation Aviation Division (TxDOT Aviation). The award was presented to Denton Airport Manager, Quentin Hix, and Denton’s Director of Transportation, Mark Nelson, at the 28th Annual Texas Aviation Conference. Denton Municipal Airport is a member of the North Texas Commission’s Aviation Marketing Council.

North Texas Clean Air Coalition encourages North Texas businesses to take the Commuter Challenge

The temperature is already climbing and ozone season has begun including air quality watch and warning days. Yep, it's summer in North Texas. To ease the affects of ozone, the North Texas Clean Air Coalition, the only nonprofit organization in the region dedicated solely to encouraging voluntary efforts to improve air quality, launches the 2010 Commuter Challenge. Forty-four percent of all ozone is due to on-road mobile sources, cars and trucks. An additional 30 percent of ozone is due to off-road mobile sources; that is a total of 74 percent of ozone due to mobile sources. The Commuter Challenge is one way to encourage commuters to find an alternate to single-occupancy vehicle travel to help our region get a breath of fresh air. Read More
