IRVING, Texas, February 19 – The North Texas Commission (NTC), the regional consortium that drove the successful 2011 Super Bowl bid, has named Kimberly Walton as its vice president of communications. In this role, Walton is charged with elevating the brand of the NTC throughout the North Texas region and effectively communicating the agency’s mission, programs and services. Walton’s responsibilities include public and media relations, marketing and branding strategy, publications management, event marketing and promotion and assistance with member investor relations. Walton will report to NTC President and CEO Dan S. Petty.

“Kimberly Walton brings wide and varied experience in public relations, a lifetime familiarity with the North Texas community and a passion for regional issues to the NTC,” said Petty. “She arrives at an exciting time for the NTC to sharpen our edge and our voice in the region on a variety of topics including aviation, transportation, water supply, clean air, literacy and the 2011 Super Bowl.”

Through her career with The Powell Group, Walton worked with national brands such as Blockbuster, Starbucks, Bailey Banks & Biddle and Zale Corporation, as well as local organizations including the Dallas Museum of Art and Texas Stampede. Walton was subsequently a member of the corporate communications team for Electronic Data Systems and, most recently, worked with Samsung Mobile through the public relations agency MWW Group.

“I look forward to working with the NTC, its board of directors and its member investors to support the organization’s mission while reinforcing and strengthening the region’s reputation as an ideal place to work and live,” said Walton.

Hailing from Bonham, Texas, Walton is a lifelong member of the North Texas community, and received her bachelor of arts degree in journalism from The University of North Texas. Walton is a member of the Dallas International Association for Business Communicators (IABC), is a board member for The Writer’s Garrett and has served on the public relations and marketing committee for Wednesday’s Child Benefit Corporation. Walton and her husband live in Dallas.
