Program of Work
Transportation
- Lead and support the effort to bring together the region to secure funding for Rail North Texas
- Work with legislators throughout the 81st Texas Legislature to secure more resources for increased investment in transportation infrastructure
- Attend key transportation meetings to stay informed and collaborate in the effort to sustain mobility
- Make presentations to clubs, organizations, boards, councils, etc. to build an informed constituency for transportation investment
- Support coalitions such as the Dallas/Fort Worth Area Partners in Mobility and the Texas Urban Transportation Alliance
- Evaluate individual and organizational efforts for outstanding contributions to the improvement of mobility for consideration for the Transportation Excellence Award in Mobility (TEAM)
Aviation
- Strengthen the growing workforce in aviation by partnering with universities to offer a four-year aviation degree
- Continue to assist D/FW International Airport with its efforts to increase air service and air routes to the region
- Work with D/FW International Airport's staff to assist with the Air Cargo Association for the region
- Support air cargo development for North Texas by marketing its cargo airports through dissemination of information and presentations to prospective businesses interested in the region
- Market North Texas general aviation airports to help expand facilities and increase business development
- Assist North Texas general aviation through advocacy of public policy issues critical to their growth and increased activity. Coordinate and assist regional allies in legislative, intergovernmental and surface transportation issues that complement the growth of regional aviation and, in particular, D/FW International Airport
- Coordinate joint attendance and booths at selected aviation trade shows, including the annual National Business Aviation Association (NBAA), to market the aviation assets of the region
Innovation Economy
- Market North Texas assets to maintain and enhance our region's competitiveness in a globally competitive, innovation driven economy
- Enable university research excellence, to include support for state and federal grant funding
- Facilitate collaboration among universities and industry to discuss the expansion of the innovation economy of North Texas
- Create regional capacity to drive the commercialization of products from technologies developed in North Texas
Environment
- Provide leadership and support for the North Texas Clean Air Steering Committee, a regional coalition of business and civic leaders formed in 1999 to reduce emissions that pollute the air, cause health problems and jeopardize the regions mobility and economic vitality. (North Texas Clean Air Coalition)
- Actively participate in the Texas Clean Air Working Group, a coalition of Texas non-attainment and near non-attainment areas. The purpose is to exchange information and to formulate and advocate consensus on regulatory, administrative and legislative policy positions related to federal Clean Air Act compliance
- As a founding member of the North Texas Clean Air Coalition, actively participate in this regional air quality advocacy and education group
- Monitor clean air bills filed in the Texas Legislature and lobby for or against them as appropriate to help North Texas improve its air quality and sustain economic prosperity
- Monitor the work of the Region C Water Planning Group and collaborate with chambers of commerce, water suppliers and others in promoting measures to further the implementation of North Texas water management strategies

Leadership
- Leadership North Texas is a graduate-level leadership course that provides residents of North Texas with the tools and support needed to become regional leaders
- Graduates of Leadership North Texas will engage in regional collaboration and civic entrepreneurship to sustain and enhance the region's quality of life and prosperity
Issues Forums
- Plan and coordinate quarterly events aimed at providing members with thought leadership and innovative solutions facing today's workplace
Logistics
- Support and promote logistics development and marketing for the region through college and university forums and other appropriate venues and projects
- Ensure an educated quality workforce to meet the regional staffing requirements at all levels of logistic functions. The Logistics committee is reaching out to the Independent School District councilors to acquaint students about logistics as a career
- Continue to market North Texas as a supply chain, warehousing and distribution center. This is being accomplished through further distribution of "Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex America's Global Logistics Center", articles in logistics trade journals, making promotional and educational material available through national logistics associations, and supporting our local universities' logistic forums
Literacy and Long-Range Strategies
- Through the North Texas Future Fund, a 501(c) (3) corporation affiliated with the North Texas Commission, identify, study and seek long-term solutions for issues affecting the region in the areas of education, economic development, regional cooperation, workforce development and population change. The NTFF has a current focus on literacy
- The North Texas Future Fund will establish mechanisms that ensure the ongoing provision of literacy services in our region. Established partnerships with community organizations, such as the United Ways of Metropolitan Dallas and Metropolitan Tarrant County, and the support of business organizations will allow us to raise awareness of illiteracy in our region and offer timely solutions to the problem of illiteracy
- Through ongoing, strategic public awareness campaign, the North Texas Future Fund will be a regional resource in the literacy effort. Planned events include a regional kick-off luncheon to announce and support the establishment of literacy coalition in Dallas and Tarrant Counties and a 2008 Literacy Summit
Supporting Programs
- Provide administrative and staff support to North Central Texas InterLink, Inc., a non-profit business education alliance for quality workforce development. It provides timely, relevant information concerning the region's employment demands, skill needs and education and training needs of employers and employees, resulting in a quality workforce (Interlink)
- Initiate and coordinate various coalitions and committees of regional entities including businesses, chambers, municipalities and educational institutions to encourage and promote regional cooperation
- Create and disseminate regional marketing materials and statistical analyses and maintain a web site (www.ntc-dfw.org) for the benefit of the region, NTC members and other interested parties
- Facilitate the regional local governments working group in its legislative activities on issues of mutual interest in our cities and counties within the North Texas region such as revenue and appraisal cap initiatives and other legislation detrimental to local governments
