|
Transportation
- Support and promote Dallas/Fort Worth Area Partners in Mobility.
- Support and promote D/FW surface transportation assets including mass transit (DART, The T, The TRE), rail, trucking and highways.
- Support funding allocations and improvements to Interstate 35 between Mexico and Canada so it can fulfill its potential as the primary north-south conduit of NAFTA trade.
- Support the North Texas Tollway Authority and help in its efforts to improve regional mobility and promote interoperability.
- Assist regional transportation coalitions and the Texas Urban Transportation Alliance in building an informed constituency for mobility and in generating grassroots support for increased transportation funding and reduce diversions.
- Present a Transportation Excellence Award in Mobility (TEAM) each year to an outstanding individual and an organization that have contributed to the improvement of mobility in North Texas.
Aviation
- Continue to assist D/FW International Airport with its efforts to increase air service and air routes to the region.
- Work with D/FW International Airport’s staff to assist with the Air Cargo Association for the region.
- Support air cargo development for North Texas by marketing its cargo airports through dissemination of information and presentations to prospective businesses interested in the region.
- Continue to support D/FW International Airport through participation in air service development trips and provide, when appropriate, briefings on the D/FW Metroplex and its quality of life.
- Market North Texas general aviation airports to help expand facilities and increase business development.
- Assist North Texas general aviation through advocacy of public policy issues critical to their growth and increased activity. Coordinate and assist regional allies in legislative, intergovernmental and surface transportation issues that complement the growth of regional aviation and, in particular, D/FW International Airport.
- Coordinate joint attendance and booths at selected aviation trade shows, including the annual National Business Aviation Association (NBAA), to market the aviation assets of the region.
- Host international aviation government and business leaders visiting the region and provide them with presentations and materials that highlight D/FW International Airport and the region’s aviation assets.
Environment
- NTC provides day to day management of the North Texas Clean Air Coalition (NTCAC), the organization responsible for promoting voluntary actions to improve air quality in North Texas. The Coalition creates and executes annual Commute Solution Season campaigns including employer and media outreach, advertising, public opinion research, a speakers’ bureau, assessment of employer programs, and employer recognition.
- NTC helps coordinate three committees to direct the activities of NTCAC: The Executive Board, the Public Outreach Committee, and the Employer Outreach Committee.
- Provide leadership and support for the North Texas Clean Air Steering Committee, a regional coalition of business and civic leaders formed in 1999 to reduce emissions that pollute the air, cause health problems and jeopardize the regions mobility and economic vitality.
- Actively participate in the Texas Clean Air Working Group, a coalition of Texas non-attainment and near non-attainment areas. The purpose is to exchange information and to formulate and advocate consensus on regulatory, administrative and legislative policy positions related to federal Clean Air Act compliance.
- As a founding member of the North Texas Clean Air Coalition, actively participate in this regional air quality advocacy and education group.
- Participate with the North Central Texas Council of Governments in the Dallas/Fort Worth Regional “Clean Cities” Program to support the conversion of public and private fleets and transit vehicles to alternative fuels to help reduce air pollution.
- Support the implementation of the Area C Regional Water Plan, facilitate the North Texas Water Resources Group and support legislation designed to implement the Region C Plan.
Long-Range Strategies
- Through the North Texas Future Fund, a 501(c)(3) corporation affiliated with the North Texas Commission, identify, study and seek long-term solutions for issues affecting the region in the areas of education, economic development, regional cooperation, workforce development and population change. The NTFF has a current focus on literacy.
- The North Texas Future Fund will establish mechanisms that ensure the ongoing provision of literacy services in our region. Established partnerships with community organizations, such as the United Ways of Metropolitan Dallas and Metropolitan Tarrant County, and the support of business organizations will allow us to raise awareness of illiteracy in our region and offer timely solutions to the problem of illiteracy.
- Through ongoing, strategic public awareness campaign, the North Texas Future Fund will be a regional resource in the literacy effort. Planned events include a regional kick-off luncheon to announce and support the establishment of literacy coalition in Dallas and Tarrant Counties and a 2008 Literacy Summit.
Supporting Programs
- Support and promote logistics development and marketing for the region through college and university forums and other appropriate venues and projects.
- Distribute the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex: America's Global Logistcs Center brochure for the region.
- Provide administrative and staff support to North Central Texas InterLink, Inc., a non-profit business education alliance for quality workforce development. It provides timely, relevant information concerning the region’s employment demands, skill needs and education and training needs of employers and employees, resulting in a quality workforce.
- Initiate and coordinate various coalitions and committees of regional entities including businesses, chambers, municipalities and educational institutions to encourage and promote regional cooperation.
- Create and disseminate regional marketing materials and statistical analyses and maintain a web site for the benefit of the region, NTC members and other interested parties.
- Facilitate the regional local governments working group in its legislative activities on issues of mutual interest in our cities and counties within the North Texas region such as revenue and approval cap initiatives and other legislation detrimental to local governments.
- Strategic Agenda: To evaluate three suggested new programs from the strategic planning workshop; Regional Leadership Academy, Regional Index Project, Regional Issues Forums.
