The North Texas Commission opened the application period for the 2018-2019 class of Leadership North Texas presented by Oncor. Leadership North Texas is a graduate-level, regional leadership program designed to recruit, develop and support leaders who have a commitment to civic engagement and to the North Texas region. This class will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the unique graduate-level, regional leadership program.

“This is a milestone year for Leadership North Texas,” said James D. Spaniolo, president and CEO of the North Texas Commission. “For the past 10 years, we’ve recruited and developed regional ambassadors working together to build a better region. The program has grown to include a young professionals program. I’m excited to see what the next decade holds for Leadership North Texas.”

Since the program’s inception, more than 260 leaders from across North Texas have graduated, including a former State Representative, numerous mayors and city council members, city managers and economic development professionals, business leaders, higher education executives and non-profit leaders.

Over a nine-month period, the class addresses and discusses topics such as regionalism, the global opportunities of North Texas, our economy, workforce and education, sustainable development, the impact of incarceration and a plan for civic engagement. They learn best practices in regional stewardship from experts and other regions, and explore how to collaborate to best address current regional issues.

Leadership North Texas offers the Dan S. Petty Regional Steward scholarship to provide tuition assistance for up to three non-profit executives from North Texas. The scholarship is named for the North Texas Commission’s former President and CEO who passed away in January 2011.

The application deadline for Leadership North Texas Class 10 is noon, June 1, 2018. Applications are available online at www.leadershipnorthtexas.org or through the North Texas Commission office at 972-621-0400. Tuition for the program is $3,000.
