Winners of the 9th Annual Working for Clean Air Awards announced

Peterbilt Motors Company named “North Texas Clean Air Champion”


The North Texas Commission announced the winners of the 2013 “Working for Clean Air Awards,” and named Peterbilt Motors Company this year’s “North Texas Clean Air Champion.” In its ninth year, the awards program recognizes organizations in the region that demonstrate outstanding efforts to improve local air quality. More than 25 organizations representing over 75,000 employees in the North Texas region applied for the award this year. The winners were announced Thursday, Nov. 7, at a reception at DFW Airport’s Corporate Aviation terminal.


The keynote presenter for the evening was Dan Frakes, Manager of Vehicle Fuels & Advanced Technology Policy for General Motors, speaking about the future of American automobile technology. General Motors had the Chevy Volt available for test drives during the event. In addition, Peterbilt Motors and DFW Airport showcased their alternative fuel vehicles.

TXU Energy – Best Small Fleet
UT Southwestern Medical Center (tie) – Best Business Operations
Southern Methodist University (tie) – Best Business Operations
Internal Revenue Service – Best Commuter Initiatives
Shelbron Barnes (Texas Instruments) – Best Employee for Clean Air
