Jackson Brings Corporate, Municipal and Nonprofit Experience to Regional Public-Private Organization
The North Texas Commission announced Mabrie Jackson will serve as the Commission’s president and CEO effective July 9, 2010. Dan S. Petty, the organization’s president and CEO for the past 17 years, transitions into a consultant role through the 2011 North Texas Super Bowl XLV.
Jackson comes to the NTC with a varied background that includes public service through a seat on the Plano City Council, roles with Fortune 500 companies and, most recently, serving as the interim President and CEO of the Plano Chamber of Commerce. Jackson will be the first female President and CEO of the nearly 40-year-old regional organization.
“Mabrie brings a wealth of knowledge in municipal government and corporate engagement to the Commission, and she will be instrumental in guiding the completion of the North Texas Commission’s strategic planning,” said NTC Chairwoman Wendy Lopez, vice president of URS Corporation. “We are excited that Mabrie has agreed to lead the organization and, in turn, the region.”
In her role as President and CEO, Jackson will be tasked with finalizing the NTC’s strategic planning efforts to make the organization more focused to be the leading advocate for the North Texas region.
“The North Texas Commission has long been the convener for our business community, the municipalities, chambers of commerce and other nonprofit organizations for issues facing North Texas,” said Jackson. “Now more than ever, the NTC is poised to influence key decisions within the region. I am thrilled to join an organization with a strong history and a promising future.”
