Methodist Named among Best Places to Work in Health Care Nationwide

Methodist Health Care System has received national recognition among the best places to work in health care by Modern Healthcare magazine, ranking 28th in workplace merit surveys across the country. Methodist is one of only four hospitals in Texas and the top hospital in Dallas named in the magazine’s Top 100 recognition program.

“This national recognition is a tremendous source of pride for everyone at Methodist and is a very nice pat on the back for our dedicated family of employees,” says President and CEO and NTC Board Member Dr. Stephen L. Mansfield, FACHE. “Our vision is to work diligently every day with a patient-centered focus, but also to foster an excellent working environment. We pursue our mission as servant leaders with grateful hearts for those we serve, and for those who serve with us.”

The program recognizes outstanding employers in the health care industry on a national level. Honorees received the awards on Oct. 27 at a conference in Chicago.

Methodist Health System has now been named a top winner in an unprecedented three separate “Best Place to Work” surveys this year. The health care system has also been named for the sixth consecutive year among Top 10 winners in the Dallas Business Journal survey, and Methodist earned a place as a top employer in the Dallas Top Workplaces 2009 recognitions by The Dallas Morning News.

“Whether in the Metroplex, Texas, or the nation, we believe every day, every year, that Methodist is a great place to work and a great place to serve,” said John Lacy, Methodist Health System senior VP Human Resources. “We meet each day with the dual goal of compassionate, quality service to our patients, while maintaining an outstanding workplace for our staff.”

The Modern Healthcare program collects information from both the employer and employees and is open to all companies (providers, suppliers, payers, associations, etc.) with at least 25 employees. Employers complete a survey detailing company policies, practices, benefits and demographics. Employees are asked an in-depth set of questions resulting in an analysis in eight core areas: leadership and planning, culture and communications, role satisfaction, working environment, relationship with supervisor, training and development, pay and benefits, and overall satisfaction.

Methodist Health System includes four hospitals, rehabilitation and imaging facilities, nine family health centers (with a 10th center to open soon) and hospital facilities now under construction in Addison and McKinney. Methodist offers patients a place where compassionate health care providers and modern technology work hand in hand for quality care.

Methodist employs approximately 6,000 people in the North Texas area and has more than 800 physicians on active medical staff. For more information on careers at Methodist, visit www.methodisthealthsystem.org/careers.
