North Texas Home to 21 Fortune 500 Company Headquarters According to 2015 List

The North Texas Commission, a regional non-profit organization that markets North Texas internationally, advocates for issues with no city or county boundary and fosters collaboration, recognizes the 21 North Texas-based companies listed in the 2015 Fortune 500 rankings. The Fortune 500 list was released on Fortune magazine’s Web site, www.fortune.com.

The number of companies on the list grew from 18 in 2014 to 21 this year. Irving’s Exxon Mobil was the highest ranked North Texas company at No. 2. New to the list this year were Dallas’ Trinity Industries at No. 433, Plano’s Alliance Data Systems at No. 494, and Irving’s Pioneer Natural Resources at No. 496.

The 2015 Fortune 500 list recognizes the following 21 North Texas companies, in ranking order: Exxon Mobil (2); AT&T (12); Energy Transfer Equity (53); American Airlines (70); Fluor (136); Kimberly-Clark (140); HollyFrontier (150); Southwest Airlines (161); Tenet Healthcare (170); Texas Instruments (233); J.C. Penney (250); Dean Foods (306); GameStop (311); D.R. Horton (418); Commercial Metals (388); Celanese (395); Trinity Industries (433); Dr Pepper Snapple Group (437); Energy Future Holdings (446); Alliance Data Systems (494); Pioneer Natural Resources (496).

According to Fortune magazine, the 21 North Texas companies collectively generated more than $807 billion in revenue, which is an increase of more than $13 billion from last year.

“North Texas had many economic wins over the past year, most notably Toyota and Kubota,” said Mabrie Jackson, president and CEO of the North Texas Commission. “The strength and economic diversity of the North Texas Fortune 500 companies reinforces why we’re the fastest growing region in the country.”

In July of 1955, Fortune magazine produced its first directory of biggest companies representing all industrial sectors, which became known as the Fortune 500.

Established in 1971, the North Texas Commission is a regional non-profit consortium of businesses, cities, counties, chambers of commerce, economic development entities and higher education institutions in the North Texas region.
