Dallas Fed’s Texas Business Outlook Surveys

Be part of a process that helps gauge regional business activity and informs monetary policy making. If you are an executive in a Texas-based manufacturing or service-sector firm, the Dallas Fed invites you to participate in the Dallas Fed’s Texas Business Outlook Surveys.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas relies on information from local companies such as yours to gauge regional economic activity. Because your firm’s insight is valuable, we invite you to participate in our Texas Business Outlook Surveys, which include the Texas Manufacturing Outlook Survey, Texas Service Sector Outlook Survey and Texas Retail Outlook Survey. The Dallas Fed has electronically surveyed about 500 manufacturing, service industry and retail corporate executives since 2007 on current business conditions in Texas. The short questionnaire is transmitted via email each month and asks whether indicators such as production or revenues, employment, prices and general business activity have increased, decreased or remained unchanged. Respondents are asked how these measures have changed from the previous month and what their expectations are for changes six months ahead. The data collected provide Dallas Fed economists with information on changes in state business conditions that help shape the formulation of monetary policy. Aggregate survey results are published in reports online available HERE.We encourage you to visit this site to learn more about the surveys.

PLEASE NOTE: Specific details of each response are held in strict confidence, and we can assure you that respondents’ names and company affiliations will never be disclosed. Completing the multiple-choice, electronic survey is straightforward and takes less than 10 minutes each month.

It takes less than 10 minutes per month to complete the short electronic survey. For more information or to enroll, contact Amy Jordan at amy.jordan@dal.frb.org.
