Mayor Matthew Marchant, City of Carrollton
As a part of our Meet Our Members series, the North Texas Commission would like to introduce the Mayor of Carrollton, Matthew Marchant. Matthew also serves on the Board of Directors for the NTC and practices law as a partner at Strasburger & Price, LLP.
A lifetime resident of the Carrollton area, Mayor Matthew Marchant attended C-FBISD schools and graduated from Trinity Christian Academy in 1994. He attended college at Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma, receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in 1998. Mayor Marchant continued his studies at the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, Texas, where he earned his Juris Doctorate in December, 2000. He is also a graduate of Leadership Metrocrest, Class XXI.
Matthew was elected Mayor of Carrollton in May 2011 and again in 2014. He previously served on the Carrollton City Council from May 2002 – May 2005 and from February 2006 – May 2011. Prior to his election to the City Council, Mayor Marchant served on Carrollton’s Development Ordinance Advisory Commission. He has also served in the following roles: Chairman of the Redevelopment Subcommittee, Chairman of the Transit-Oriented Development Subcommittee, member of the Carrollton Festival at the Switchyard Subcommittee, member of the Audit and Finance Committee, and member of the Judicial Committee. Since 2008 Mayor Marchant has represented Carrollton and Farmers Branch as a voting member of the Regional Transportation Council, a 43-member board that sets transportation policy, funding and priorities for the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
