About Locke Lord LLP
Our lawyers demonstrate commitment to the communities in which we work and live through our considerable investment of time and resources in making sure our business initiatives are part of creating a better world around us. Our Firm has a prevailing spirit of generosity that manifests itself through civic and community leadership, volunteerism and financial support. We proactively involve lawyers in all of our offices in pro bono work and assistance to our clients as well as in connection with numerous free legal clinics in the areas in which we work. Our lawyers and staff serve on the boards of numerous education, health and welfare, arts, and children’s charitable and faith-based organizations in the United States, Europe and Asia.
Our Dallas lawyers have, for many years, provided services on all types of civil matters through their longtime partnership with the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program (DVAP), which recognizes our volunteerism and sponsorship each year at its Pro Bono awards gathering. Additionally, in recent years Dallas lawyers have participated in the Texas Appleseed, assisted low-income families at the South Dallas Legal Clinic, counseled on tenant/landlord disputes and contract interpretation at the Dallas Housing Crisis Center and participated in the Northern District of Texas (Civil Division) Pro Bono Civil Case Panel, where lawyers will assist indigent clients in a broad range of civil matters pending in Dallas federal court. The Dallas office also has ties to a number of local charities and organizations such as: Boys and Girls Club of Dallas, Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas Zoological Society, Hope Medrano Elementary School and Human Rights Initiative of North Texas, Inc.
Our Dallas office was recognized as the Top Contributing Law Firm for our support of the 2014-15 United Way of Metropolitan Dallas’ campaign – contributing in excess of $240,000 to United Way’s regional annual fund-raising effort last year. The United Way of Metropolitan Dallas is a locally governed and volunteer-led organization that works with community partners to deliver more than 300 education, income and health programs across North Texas, and many of our lawyers actively volunteer on the board and on committees of United Way.
We have also been committed to the Dallas Bar Association (DBA) for decades in our efforts for community enrichment, education, and service for its 10,000 members. Firm partners have historically held numerous leadership positions in the Association, including the DBA’s immediate Past-President, Brad Weber. His election continues a long tradition of service by Locke Lord lawyers who have held this important and prestigious position, including Morris Harrell, John Estes, Harriet Miers, Frank E. Stevenson, II and Fifth Court of Appeals Justice Elizabeth Lang-Miers. On the state level Frank Stevenson, a Partner in our Dallas office, currently serves as the President of the State Bar of Texas.
In addition, Don Glendenning, former Office Managing Partner of the Firm’s Dallas office, serves as Partner in Charge of Corporate Responsibility and Charitable Giving. In this role to further promote Locke Lord’s Corporate Social Responsibility, Glendenning, who also currently serves as Co-Chair of the Firmwide Diversity Committee, will ensure Locke Lord advances its already strong role in both pro bono and charitable work.
