The opioids, or prescribed painkillers, epidemic striking the country has risen to the top headlines across the country in recent months.
The next TO THE POINT presented by Fidelity Investments will examine the growing epidemic of opioid addiction in the United States with a discussion between Barclay Berdan, president of Texas Health Resources, and Dr. Paul Hain, chief medical officer of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas moderated by David Tesmer of Texas Health Resources. The luncheon will be on Friday, July 15 at noon at the Courtyard & TownePlace Suites in Grapevine.
A report released this spring by the Federal Drug Administration showed just how widespread the opioid addiction epidemic has grown. Over a 15 year period, the sales of opioids quadrupled in the U.S. And, according to the CDC, 78 people die each day from painkiller overdose. This silent epidemic has the potential to impact employees, customers and the bottom line.
